Members of the Salix Homes Customer Committee

YOUR VOICE MATTERS

We want to hear what you’ve got to say – join us and help make our housing service one that we can all be proud of.

Our customers are at the heart of everything we do at Salix Homes, and we’re passionate about ensuring your voices are heard and providing opportunities for you to help shape and improve our services.

Meet our Customer Committee

We set up our Customer Committee in 2020 in a bid to transform the way we engage and communicate with our tenants, providing you with a strong voice to hold us to account.

The Customer Committee is made up of tenants and they’re paid for their time and insight – just the same as our Board Members.

They have the power to commission a piece of work to scrutinise any area of our organisation. This means that if they want to know more about how we do things, they can arrange an in-depth review of any service we deliver to really look closely at how we work and suggest ways to improve.

For example, if they wanted to look at our repairs service, they can appoint other tenants from our ‘Scrutiny Pool’ who can ask us questions, attend meetings and review what we’re doing. They’ll then produce a report to let us know what they think we’re doing right and suggest ways we can do things better.

Here’s just some of the projects the Customer Committee, and other involved tenants, have been working on over the past year…

  • Attended a workshop about ‘social housing stigma’ and developed ideas for how we can tackle it
  • Took part in the first Social Housing Tenants Climate Jury looking at how residents, social landlords and others can work together to tackle climate change in homes and neighbourhoods

Get involved

There are loads of different ways to get involved in your housing service and help make a difference to your community.

Getting involved can be anything from completing a short survey about a service you’ve received to joining a dedicated customer group or committee.
